CFDLab@Energy - Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory - STAFF - RICCARDO MEREU

Riccardo Mereu
Rocca Post-Doc Fellow at MIT - POLIMIriccardo.mereu@polimi.it; ricmereu@mit.edu Riccardo Mereu obtained his Ph.D. in Energy at Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI) with a numerical study about Non Linear Eddy Viscosity Model for turbulent flows and his Mechanical Engineering MSc at University of Cagliari with an experimental and numerical investigation of a multi-effect solar still for salt water distillation. His main interests are fluid dynamics and heat transfer phenomena in single and multiphase flows in industrial and nuclear fields, with particular attention to turbulence and multiphase modelling. Since 2009 he is working as Researcher at the CFDLab of the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Milano on parallel confined jets modelling via Large Eddy Simulation approach. This work, part of the international IRIS nuclear project, is developed in collaboration with Ninokata's Laboratory (Nuclear Department) of Tokyo Institute of Technology (TITech) where he spent a few months from May to September 2009 as Visiting Researcher. Since March 2010 he is a two-year Progetto Rocca Post-Doc Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - POLIMI to develop a numerical investigation about Critical Heat Flux (CHF) phenomenon in nuclear field. Since 2007 Riccardo is member of Engineering Without Borders – Milan (ISF-MI) in the Energy Group and PM of the project 'CdF Médina' (Dakar, Senegal) for ISF-MI, focused on the use of appropriate technologies in the energy field. From 2008 to 2010 he was member of the board and Vice-President of the association.
